The Aspiring Aviators Aero Club didn’t start with an airplane—it began with an empty hangar, $100 worth of lumber, and a shared dream.

On day one, using plans provided by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), our founding students and volunteers gathered on a bare concrete floor to assemble a simple set of wooden workbenches. When finished, every student signed their name on the wood. Before stepping out, they were given a promise: “Someday, you’ll return and see your signature on these benches. In that moment, you’ll realize you didn’t just leave your mark, you helped launch a legacy.”

Those benches stood alone in an empty hangar as a symbol of hope, teamwork, and raw possibility.

Today, our footprint looks vastly different. What started with a pile of lumber has expanded into a thriving aviation hub—home to three aircraft, dozens of mentored youth, and an invitation to help construct a fourth airplane on a national stage at EAA’s One Week Wonder project.

While our hangar has grown, our foundation remains unchanged. The signatures on those original workbenches may have faded over time, but they remind us every day that great things begin with humble hands, hard work, and a community willing to invest in the next generation.
